Memnon’s management remains focussed on next-generation integrated archiving solutions, with a vision on a business model of integrated, sustainable and intelligent archive management outsourcing and commercialisation. The Company initiated and is participating in several large scale projects, showing a long term vision and focussing on the different stages in the value chain and their further integration, including the interoperability of the diverse formats and standards in this very fast changing industry.

These projects are for a large part financed by European or national institutions. 

MEMORIES (EU – project coordinator) – project value of EUR 2.5 million

 The project focuses on the sound media chain and has the objective of :
- improving the acquisition processes : experimenting and enhancing sound detection (as used in the Film la Môme to separate the voice from the original orchestration) and text transcription;
- improving the retrieval processes by developing an original search system to help the user to better structure the results;
- defining an “Open eXchange Format” based on standards allowing for theoretical compatibility with “any system”.

The project is realised in collaboration with Unesco, RSR, Technion, Pubgene, Norsk Lydinstitutt ...

MAVES (IRSIB – project leader) – project value of EUR 0.3 million

This project focuses on the interoperability between different systems/devices. Its objective is to develop a tool insuring that any conversion or transformation while exporting or importing an object into another system will be successful.

MIDAS (IRSIB – project leader) – project value of EUR 1.8 million

This project aims at adding the last missing brick for a fully interoperable system for data archival/exploitation : the security and authentication layers. The first actual implementation aimed at by the project is the setup of an archiving and consultation system for legal documents, providing a satisfying solution for authentic document digital representation (a patent request has been applied by Memnon on this point) and also solution for the continuity of the authentication process.

MEDIAMAP (CELTIC) – project value of EUR 6.5 million 

Mediamap is a project on the launching stage where Memnon is involved next to RTBF, VRT, Belgavox, etc. Its objective is to allow the processing of a package of data from one source to another.

DIGIBIC

DigiBIC is a network of European leaders in research, innovation support, industry and finance, working together to deploy the latest technology and tools to digital and creative industries.

Objectives
•To create a permanent, sustainable and respected European network to support the continued growth of the digital and creative industries.
•To engage with regional, national and European leaders in research and innovation in order to support and encourage their use of the DigiBIC platform to deploy research results and to engage with industry end-users in identifying and responding to new industry challenges and opportunities
•To overcome the challenges inherent to the digital and creative industries sector in order to engage directly with end-users, to support and encourage their use of the DigiBIC network and platform in order to optimise the deployment of existing best practice, technology and tools and to engage with the research community in identifying and developing solutions to new industry challenges and opportunities
•To establish the DigiBIC network and online resources centre as an effective 'brokerage' mechanism between the different communities of interest
•To ensure the widest possible involvement in and exploitation of the DigiBIC network and online platform.
